šŸƒ From trash to take-off

Yes... this jet fuel starts in a landfill

A pilot project in South Korea is turning landfill gas into jet fuel, using methane-rich gas released from decomposing waste as the starting point.

Every landfill is already producing gas as organic material breaks down.

In most cases, it’s flared or released.

Here, it’s being captured and used.

The process itself is more straightforward than it sounds.

First, the landfill gas is collected and cleaned to remove impurities.

It is then converted into a form that can be processed into fuel, often referred to as synthesis gas.

From there, it goes through another process that turns it into liquid hydrocarbons suitable for aviation fuel.

In simple terms, waste gas is being reshaped into usable fuel.

The facility is already producing around 100 kilograms per day, showing that this is not just conceptual. Still early days, but clear potential.

Here’s the business lesson for you:

Your biggest opportunities are often hiding inside your existing system.

Most companies look outside for growth.

New markets. New products. New inputs.

But this shows something different.

Value already exists inside what you’re currently treating as waste.

Best,
