Did you know?

The global gift market is on track to hit $43 billion by 2025, with much of that spending happening during the festive season.

Unfortunately, all that gift-giving can take a toll on the planet. But by choosing sustainable options, you can make a big difference.

The big idea:

The holidays are coming.

(Okay... we do still have some time)

But before you know it they will be here, and with them, the frenzy of gift shopping.

While November and December are when most of us scramble to find the perfect presents, why not start thinking about it now?

Planning ahead gives you the chance to choose gifts that are not only thoughtful but also eco-friendly.

Win-win, right?

Sustainable gift-giving doesn’t have to be complicated.

You can make choices that are better for the planet.

This could mean giving experiences instead of physical items, picking products made from recycled materials, or supporting local artisans.

Use these guide principles for your gifts:

1) Give something there is a need or desire for.

2) Choose quality and design - it will be taken better care of and last longer.

3) Experiences over 'stuff', and second-hand over new.

These choices not only reduce waste but also support small businesses.

And it’s not JUST about the gifts themselves.

Think about how they’re packaged. Wrapping paper and ribbons often end up in landfills.

Instead, you can use reusable gift wrap or even repurpose old fabrics or newspapers.

Small changes like these can have a big impact.

So, when the time comes to do Secret Santa at work... you know what to do.
