š We didnāt just cut down trees... we ERASED entire forests.
And yes, itās still happening in 2025.
Did you know?
Since the 1960s, weāve lost more than 50% of the worldās tropical forests.
Not reduced. Not slightly trimmed. Erased.
And whatās worse, itās still happening.
Right now. Today.
Here are just a few facts:
⢠We lose an area of forest the size of a football field every two seconds.
⢠Deforestation is responsible for up to 20% of global carbon emissions.
⢠Entire ecosystems are being wiped out, ones that took millions of years to form.
⢠And weāre literally clearing out the planetās lungs.
Itās confronting, isnāt it?
But before this starts to feel like all hope is lost, hereās the good news:
We still have time to change the trajectory.

The big idea:
What does this mean for you as a business leader?
Whether youāre in manufacturing, product design, logistics, or retail, chances are your business is interacting with natural resources in some way.
And that means you also have the power to reduce your impact and create a positive change.
Start by asking yourself a few key questions:
1. Do we know where our materials come from?
2. Are we using products linked to deforestation, like certain types of wood, meat, soy, or palm oil?
3. Can we switch to FSC-certified, recycled, or regenerative alternatives?
4. How well do we really understand our supply chain?
These are strategic questions.
Questions about your reputation, your resilience, and your long-term profitability.
The most future-focused businesses are already asking them.
The rest will be playing catch-up soon.

Tip of the week:
Yes, deforestation is still a massive issue.
But thereās good news: Smart businesses are already leading the way.
Hereās how you can join them:
1. Clean up your supply chain.
Audit for links to deforestation (like certain soy, palm oil, or paper).
Replace them with certified alternatives.
2. Choose renewable energy.
Switching to solar, wind, or hydro reduces reliance on biomass fuels.
These fuels often come from forests.
3. Adopt circular thinking.
Move away from the take ā make ā waste model.
Design products and processes that reuse, repair, and regenerate.
4. Partner with forest-friendly suppliers.
Work with vendors who are actively protecting forests.
And avoid the ones who are just exploiting them.
