🍃 You were going to look into it last week

The opportunity is probably still sitting there waiting

Last Sunday, you received an email from me about a sustainability related topic and you probably said you were going to look into it for your business.

That process that takes longer than it should.

The material waste that everyone accepts as normal.

The energy bill that seems a little higher than it ought to be.

The issue that's been sitting on your to-do list for months.

Then the week got busy.

And before you know it, it's Sunday again.

One thing I've learned from working with manufacturing businesses is that some of the biggest opportunities are hiding in plain sight.

If you’ve been planning on finding out where those opportunities are, now’s the best time.

A few years ago, I worked with a manufacturing company that encouraged employees to make small improvements and share them with others.

Nothing complicated.

Just small ideas that made things a little better.

Those small improvements eventually saved 2,300 working hours and €132,000 in cost reductions.

I've seen similar results in many other businesses.

The opportunity is often already there.

Someone just needs to stop and notice it.

So here's my Sunday question:

What is one thing in your business that everyone accepts as normal, but probably shouldn't?

That question has started some very valuable conversations over the years.

By the way, if you're looking for practical ways to get your leadership team more engaged with sustainability, I put together a short video with some actionable, business-focused tips. Watch it here.

Best,

Jasper
